Are online courses harder than campus classes?

As with on-ground courses, some classes are harder, and some are not. One of the greatest differences is that on-ground classes have a dedicated time that they meet and review the materials. In an online class, you have to have self-discipline and motivation to do this. It is recommended that you dedicate a certain time and certain days that you always go into your course and review the materials and submit assignments. As a result of the freedom from a dedicated class time, it is estimated that you have 12-15 hours per week per course to devote to the class. In an on-ground class, this is typically the same suggested time but part of that time is the time spent attending class.

Can I take all my classes online? What if I want to take some classes at the campus?

  • If you enroll into the online campus, you may take all of your program courses online.
  • If you wish to take courses on-ground, you may still take up to 22 general education courses online but not finish your diploma online.

Are the assignments and course load the same for online classes as they are for classes taken at the campus?

Yes. We use the same syllabi that are used in our on-ground classes and the same books. We may not have exactly the same assignments due to the differences between using online technology and what can be done in a face-to-face course, but it is very similar.

Can I complete my online classes early if I get all the assignments done?

The way we have the courses set up, no. You can go in and complete all assignments for the week early in the week, but due to email assignments and discussion postings, you will need to respond weekly.
